Samsung S Health Now Features Support For Jawbone, Fitbit Inc (NYSE:FIT), and Misfit

Samsung has added support for Jawbone, Misfit, and Fitbit Inc (NYSE:FIT) to the S Health app which is one of the most popular applications on Samsung handsets.

The Samsung S Health app lets users keep track of their physical exercises and their daily activities. The app helps users maintain a healthy lifestyle by keeping track of a user’s weight and diet. The app is featured on every Samsung handset from the Samsung S3, and it is supported by Android 4.4 or higher. The company has released a new update for the app so that it can allow integration with more services including support for Misfit, Fitbit, and Jawbone. Android Police reported that the app can connect to multiple services and applications so that it can facilitate the transfer of user data.

Users who wish to connect the app with other services can do so through the connected services section where they can access partner apps. There are six new services available within the app, and the majority revolves around sleep and exercise data. Samsung believes that integrating S Health with more services will make the app more useful. The company has also updated the app to make it possible to measure a person’s heart rate without having to launch the app. Those who wish to take advantage of the new changes should install version 4.8.1 of the application which is now available in the Play Store.

S Health was previously an exclusive app for Samsung handsets, but the company eliminated that limit to make it available to any device running on Android as long as the Android version of the OS supports the app. Although Samsung has included integration with other apps and services, there is a likelihood that services such as those of Fitbit are best suited to their own apps based on how they are used. This is also because the apps are designed to cater to specific apps.
