Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) May Be Planning To Launch Band 3 This Year

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is set to reveal its next major products in 2017 as per its released roadmap. Insiders, however, claim that some devices such as the Band, the company’s fitness bracelet, could be out before the end of 2016.

There has been speculation that Microsoft might reveal the Band 3 sometime this year. The rumors come in the wake of complains from Band 2 users over some problems, especially with the skins. A recent report on the matter noted that there had been complaints about the tearing or splitting of the skins. The report also noted that the Band 2 is not powered by Windows 10 and neither does it carry the Surface brand. The company recently made some changes to the Band 2’s silicone strap.

The company might be planning to launch the Band 3 which will be tailored to address the problems in its predecessor as well as bringing in new features. This is because the Brand 2 still has some problems even after upgrades. According to Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet, most of the information is still just rumors and speculation. Rumors aside, Microsoft might still decide to completely do away with the hardware or delay its release as it has done in the past.

Microsoft is expected to launch several devices in the coming year. Some of the devices that top the list include the latest offerings from the Surface lineup. Analysts expect to see the Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Book 2 as the company builds up competition against the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad and Macbook lineup. Microsoft is also reportedly working on an all-in-one Surface PC which will most likely be revealed in 2017 along with the other devices. Microsoft revealed the Xbox One S console during this year’s E3 conference, and it is also working on a new gaming console known as Project Scorpio whose launch date is not yet known.
