The crypto wave seems to be sweeping in all sectors and spheres of life. Award-winning rapper Mims is the latest from the music industry to launch Blockchain Company.
Mims has co-founded a project dubbed RecordGram. The main objective of the project is to assist artists as well as producers connect to develop music plus utilize blockchain to facilitate royalty payments.
The system will use tokens called “tune” and it will keep records of each artist’s digital rights and the royalties earned on each track.
RecordGram turning phones into recording studios
The success of RecordGram will see top producers turn to mobile apps that will start acting as recording studios. The system will also allow upcoming artists to look for beats, compose songs as well as secure their first label signing.
The new company is a break away from Project Music, a Nashville-based music accelerator. RecordGram was co-founded radio and digital music veteran Erik Mendelson, Winston “DJ Blackout” Thomas, a Grammy-winning music producer and hip-hop’s Shawn Mims.
Upcoming musicians open RecordGram from where they can search their favorite beats on the music page. The beats are listed in terms of mood, tempo and genre. After getting what they like, they can then proceed to upload on their own private virtual recording studio with a notepad. From there they can write the lyrics to accompany the beats.
Crypto Influencer Summit
Mims has announced that he will be talking more about the project, offering more information and details at the Crypto Influencer Summit to be held later this month. He will also be performing at the event.
The summit will be part of this years’ Blockchain Week in New York. The event will be held on May 17 and will be co-sponsored by BOOSTO and Cryptoinfluence.io, which are both blockchain-based social media platform startups. Other speakers at the event are Brendan Eich, the founder of Basic Attention Token, who will be talking about his project.
RecordGram is accompanied by a mobile app and both artists and producers can sign up. The app has different features which allow users to create and store audio clips and notes and listen to materials, which are shared by other musicians.
