Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Introduces New Skype Features On Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Mac

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has made some changes to the Skype software for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Mac OS. The changes were specifically for the Skype for Business preview.

The new updates on the Skype for Business for Mac will be available through the second rollout phase for the product. The company launched phase 1 for public preview in April, and it featured support for meetings functionalities. The new phase features the introduction of IM contacts. The third phase is expected to bring on board calling and voice support. Skype for Business for Mac is expected to be available in the third quarter this year. Judging by the previously expected time of delivery, the product has been pushed back since it was initially expected in the summer.

Microsoft revealed that Skype for Business is currently available for preview to more than 7,000 organizations and more than 22,000 individuals. The company also stated that it is not offering the preview to other customers because it is at capacity. The few users who already have the preview will receive new updates upon their availability. The Skype for Business preview also features support for conversation history, group video calling, and peer-to-peer calling.

Microsoft has also made some improvements to the iOS version of Skype to make its appearance more appealing on iPhones. The new changes include improvement in the colors within the app. The company has also fixed some bugs that were in the previous version and it claims this should enhance the overall user experience. The new changes are available in version 6.19 of the iOS Skype app which is already available in the App Store.

The Skype versions for Mac and iOS are just some of the many apps that the company has been improving for Apple’s platforms. Microsoft has been paying close attention to its apps for all platforms to make sure there is uniformity.
