Clinicians Seeking More Stable, Full-Time Work Closer to Home

StaffDNA analyzed a sample of 5,000 clinicians who sought to apply for open positions through the company’s SmartMatch technology over the three-month period. Applicants selected multiple employment preferences, including state and job type. Forty percent of applicants were seeking permanent positions, while 23 percent sought travel assignments, 30 percent local contract, and 14 percent per diem.

“This data gives us valuable insights into the employment preferences of healthcare travelers nationwide,” said Sheldon Arora, Founder of StaffDNA. “We can better understand what changes are happening in the industry and how it will affect the overall market.”

Arora believes the media’s constant focus on the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) may cause clinicians to become more cautious and think differently about jobs before applying.

As for the most requested states by job seekers, those percentages stayed relatively even quarter-over-quarter with Florida topping the list.

The Top 5 most requested states for overall employment were:

Florida (13.6%) – Texas (10.7%) – California (8.9%) – Georgia (5.81%) – North Carolina (5.26%)
