Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL): Google Web Fonts Have Received More Than 7 Trillion Views

Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has reported that Google web fonts have been viewed about 7.6 trillion times.

The massive number of views is thanks to a large number of free fonts available on the company’s web font library. The fonts are available to anyone, and they help users avoid the negatives associated with system fonts. Google has a small analytics page tucked into the website, and the page provides informative statistics on the font usage. It even has a live counter that displays the number of fonts that have been used.

The counter on the analytics page indicates an impressive 7,651,092,547,048 views, thus a very large number to ponder upon. The website also revealed that a font known as Open Sans is the most popular font on the website. It has been viewed more than 1.8 trillion times while the Roboto font has been viewed for 1 trillion times. The Oswald font came in third with 367 billion views.

Google’s font analytics also stated that Chrome has been massively used to view the web fonts. Statistics indicate that 61% of the viewers use Chrome to view the fonts while 11% of the viewers use Safari browser. Statistics for operating systems are also available. Windows was the most common at 34.4% while Linux took second place with 34.2%.

Google Web Fonts was launched in 2010, and it changed how web design works by diverting its focus from server-side and flash perspectives thus giving developers a chance to use custom fonts using one line of code in their web projects. Since then, embedding Google Web Fonts in websites has become increasingly popular. Developers often spend a lot of time searching for the ideal font.

There are many other fonts on the website apart from the top three that have received a lot of attention from the developers. Google rebranded the web fonts and they are now known as just “fonts.”
