Voya Financial, Inc. (the “Company”) is furnishing this Current Report on Form 8-K to disclose the assets under management (“AUM”) of its Investment Management (“IM”) segment prior to the availability of the Company’s quarterly earnings release and quarterly financial supplement for the quarter ended March 31, 2019, scheduled for release on May 7, 2019.
As of March 31, 2019, AUM of the Company’s IM segment was $210 billion. AUM as of March 31, 2019>included $88 billion>of Institutional external client assets, $66 billion>of Retail external client assets, and $56 billion>of Company general account assets. External client assets are reported on a market value basis. General account assets are reported on a statutory book value billing basis consistent with revenues earned. On a market value basis, general account assets were $60 billion>as of March 31, 2019.

The Company is a retirement, investment and insurance company, which provides retirement services, annuities, investment management services, mutual funds, life insurance, group insurance and supplemental health products. It provides its principal products and services in two ongoing businesses: Retirement and Investment Solutions, and Insurance Solutions. The Retirement and Investment Solutions business provides products and services through three segments: Retirement, Annuities and Investment Management. The Insurance Solutions business provides its products and services through two segments: Individual Life and Employee Benefits. In addition, the Company also has Closed Blocks and Corporate segments. Closed Blocks consists of two segments, which it has placed in run-off: Closed Block Variable Annuity and Closed Block Other. Corporate segment includes its corporate activities, and corporate-level assets and financial obligations.
