USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NYSE:USNA) has said that at least 70 of the more than 1,000 professional athletes it sponsors are heading to Brazil to compete in various sports. Those elite athletes are expected to represent their countries at the Brazil games. USNA calls its team of professional athletes Team USANA.

According to USNA’s Chief communications officer, Dan Macuga, the company is proud and feels honored that scores of elite athletes affiliated to it have got an opportunity to potentially make history on the global stage. The company has wished its affiliate athletes all the best as they head for the competition.

Competition areas

USANA Health Sciences has said that Team USANA will compete in at least 15 of the 42 sports in a competition that is expected to run for 17 days. Some of the sports that Team USANA will compete in are track and field, tennis, shooting, swimming, badminton and shooting.

Team USAN will represent 12 nations at the Brazil games.

Brand ambassadors

USANA Health Sciences has several band ambassadors in its Team USANA. It said some of those brand ambassadors have got the opportunity to compete on the global stage in Brazil. They include Denmark’s tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, Canada’s sailor Nikola Girke, Australia’s swimmer David McKeon and Alev Kelter of the U.S. rugby seven’s.

Commenting on the USNA affiliation, Kelter was quoted in a press release by the company saying that USNA and its products enable her to stay healthy. She added that as an athlete, her body is the greatest tool she knows that helps her succeed.

It is important to note that USNA’s brand ambassadors are either dedicated users of its products or distributors of the same.

Financial performance

USANA Health Sciences generated revenue of $240.5 million in 1Q2016, handily beating revenue of $219.4 million in the same period in the prior year. The topline figure in the last quarter also exceeded $232.6 million in the prior quarter. The company posted EPS of $1.77, which expanded from $1.50 a year ago but shrank from $1.83 in the previous quarter.

USNA is expected to report 2Q results on July 26 after the markets close.
