T-Mobile US Inc (NASDAQ:TMUS) May Launch RCS For Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google Messenger App

T-Mobile US Inc (NASDAQ:TMUS) is seeking to join the ranks of its competitors, the likes of Sprint and Rogers. This is the reason it supportsRich Communication Services (RCS) messaging, an option pop up in the Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google Messenger app. RCS is an evolution of SMS and MMS and has been in existence within the company since 2015. However, it is expected to bring on board better features that will go beyond the standard SMS experience.

It is being referred to as the next-generation of text messaging. The unique feature in it is that it can accommodate messages longer than 160 characters. The user will experience enhanced group chats and high-resolution photo sharing among others. Basically, RCS is a modernized text-messaging platform that can only be placed at the same level with Internet Protocol-based messaging the likes of Facebook Messenger.

RCS (rich communication services) has been hailed as the savior of texting

At the moment Google is using Sprint and Rogers for RCS messaging. This is what is likely to give a clearer entry for T-Mobile into the market. However, word has it that Google Messenger, an app that is preinstalled on many Android Smartphones, will eventually embrace the RCS features. The carrier had earlier stated that every of its Android phone that would be sold in 2017 would have a preinstalled Google Messenger.

But there is contradictory information of whether or not T-Mobile is rolling out RCS

Apparently, there are conflicting reports as to whether T-Mobile is really a partner for Google’s RCS messaging standard. With a lot of flurry on social media, a clique of customers indicates that the carrier is actually launching the new feature. However, other news from 9to5Google reveals a series of misunderstandings. Hence, there is no clear verification of whether T-Mobile is rolling out support.

Nonetheless, there are other texting apps that are supporting the platform in order to create more options other than just having to rely on Google’s app. Textra is one of them but there are speculations that Verizon Communications Inc.(NYSE:VZ) could also be joining the bandwagon. Meanwhile, T-Mobile’s stock closed at  $63.26 witnessing an increase of $0.99 or 1.59%.
