    Royal Dutch Shell plc explores for crude oil and natural gas worldwide. The company operates through Integrated Gas, Upstream, and Downstream segments. It explores for and extracts crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. The company also liquefies gas; converts natural gas to liquids to provide fuels and other products; markets and transports oil and gas; and extracts bitumen from mined oil sands and converts it to synthetic crude oil. In addition, it engages in the sale of gasoline, diesel, heating oil, aviation fuel, marine fuel, liquefied natural gas (LNG) for transport, lubricants, bitumen, and sulphur; and production and sale of petrochemicals for industrial customers, as well as refining, trading and supply, marketing, and pipelines businesses. Further, it is involved in the exploration, production, processing, and sale of hydrocarbons; and production of base chemicals comprising ethylene, propylene, and aromatics, as well as intermediate chemicals, such as styrene monomer, propylene oxide, solvents, detergent alcohols, ethylene oxide, and ethylene glycol. Additionally, the company markets and trades in natural gas, LNG, crude oil, electricity, and carbon-emission rights. It holds interests in 21 refineries; and approximately 125 supply and distribution terminals. It sells fuels under the Shell V-Power brand. The company has a collaboration with Velocys plc for the development of a waste-to-jet-fuel project in the United Kingdom. Royal Dutch Shell plc was founded in 1907 and is headquartered in The Hague, the Netherlands.
