The Cheesecake Factory Inc (NASDAQ:CAKE) has revealed that the famous and popular Pumpkin Pecan Cheesecake and Pumpkin Cheesecake will be making a comeback. Pumpkin Cheesecake is basically a creamy cheesecake baked in a crust of graham crackers and then topped with fresh whipped cream. Pumpkin Pecan Cheesecake consists of a pecan pie layer upon a pumpkin cheesecake layer which is then finished with pecans and caramel plus pastry crust.
The two delicacies from The Cheesecake Factory made their yearly debut at the beginning of the month just at the same time as the kick-off of the Hunger Action Month.
“Our guests look forward to Pumpkin and Pumpkin Pecan Cheesecake returning to our menu every year, and we’re so pleased that these very popular cheesecakes will benefit Feeding America again this year,” said the founder and chief executive officer of The Cheesecake Factory, David Overton.
Hunger Action Month
In contributing towards hunger-relief and in recognition of the Hunger Action Month, for every Pumpkin Pecan Cheesecake or Pumpkin Cheesecake slice sold until Thanksgiving, the food chain will give to Feeding America a donation of 25 cents. Feeding America is the biggest organization in the United States devoted to the fight against domestic hunger. It does this via a food bank network. Over $4.2 million has been donated by The Cheesecake Factory to Feeding America since 2008 via the sales of the specially designated cheesecakes.
Besides giving a portion from the sales of the popular cheesecakes during the Hunger Action Month, employees of the restaurant chain spread across the United States also take part in an event dubbed ‘Peanut Butter Drive’ all with a view to benefiting the local food banks of Feeding America. Last year employees of The Cheesecake Factory collected peanut butter weighing over 223,000 pounds.
This year is no exception and the staff members are currently engaging in the same drive. The Cheesecake Factory also takes part in the Harvest Food Donation Program where it regularly donates fresh food for distribution to shelters and soup kitchens. Since the program was started ten years ago the amount of food that The Cheesecake factory has donated is over 4.3 million pounds.
