PharmaCielo Becomes 1st Colombia’s Cannabis Producer to Earn ISO Certification

PharmaCielo Ltd. (OTCMKTS:PHCEF), which owns Colombia’s based medicinal-grade cannabis oil cultivator and producer PharmaCielo Colombia Holdings S.A.S., said that they have received the ISO 9001:2015 certification for its cultivation and extraction operations.

ISO 9001 is the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system. Organizations use the standard to show their ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Canada-based PharmaCielo focuses on processing and supplying of all natural, medicinal-grade cannabis oil extracts and related products to large channel distributors. Its subsidiary PharmaCielo Colombia is headquartered in Rionegro, Colombia.

Why ISO 9001 Certification Is Important

The ISO 9001 certification covers the production of vegetable materials for the propagation, flowering and production of both psychoactive and non-psychoactive cannabis.

David Attard, the CEO at PharmaCielo, states that PharmaCielo was Colombia’s first licensed producer, and first recipient of quota for propagation. Now, the company is the first and only local cannabis producer to receive this quality assurance certification.

Dr. Delon Human, PharmaCielo’s global head, health and innovation, believes that the ISO 9001 certification will allow the company to become an acceptable brand in the global market.

“As the global medicinal cannabis market continues to evolve, and additional markets open for the use of medical cannabis and derived products, companies that can assure customers, patients, healthcare providers and regulators of the quality and consistency of the product will rise to the top,” Human states.

PharmaCielo is looking to become the preferred global supplier of medicinal-grade cannabis oil extracts.

The company’s processing facilities have already been designed and operate to fulfill GMP (Good Manufacturing Processes) standards. The company now expects receipt of GMP certification for the Research and Technology Centre in coming months.
