Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) On Track For A Fifth Season Of “Arrested Development”

Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) has signed a deal that will bring back “Arrested Development” for another season.

Netflix was eager to bring more episodes of the show according to previous statements by the series producer Brian Gazer. A new deal aimed at bringing back the TV show for a fifth season was signed as revealed on Friday by actor Jason Bateman who posted the news on the Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) social platform. Gazer also revealed that the main actors are also eager to participate in yet another season and that they are also on board with the payment terms.

“Look very probable I’m going to put some miles on the Stair Car this summer. Just officially signed on to more ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT today,” Bateman wrote on Twitter.

The wait is almost over for “Arrested Development” fans

The news of an upcoming season of the TV show should bring joy to die-hard fans of the TV show. There have also been reports that writers and directors of the series are already working on a storyline for the new season. Despite the news, there has not been any official confirmation from Netflix or 20th Century Fox Television which is the studio that was behind the previous four seasons of “Arrested Development.

The unofficial report by Bateman on Twitter is however believed to be an authentic confirmation. Filming for the new episodes is expected to commence this summer but there were also reports that not all the actors have signed the contract for the new season. Hopefully, they will have finished all the paperwork soon so that the schedule will be uninterrupted.

“Arrested Development” was originally aired on Fox from 2003 to 2006. It received a lot of praise from critics and even won an Emmy in the category of outstanding comedy series. Unfortunately, it ended up being canceled due to poor ratings and failure to attract global interest. The TV show was however revived in 2013 by Netflix which showcased 15 successful episodes of the fourth season. The company is optimistic about pushing out another season of the series.

Netflix stock closed the latest trading session on Thursday at $18.61 which was 1.20 percent higher than the previous close.
