Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) Has Finally Updated Its Windows 10 PC App To Support Offline Viewing

The offline viewing feature from Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) will now be made available on Windows 10 after four months of featuring on iOS and Android. The new provision will enable the downloading of content from the popular streaming website to watch it later without the need for an internet connection. Apparently, this has been one of the most requested features in regards to video streaming platforms.

While it may not have an immediate available for mobile devices, a spokesperson from the company says, “Today, the Netflix app will support the downloading feature on Windows 10 laptops and tablets. We are constantly exploring new ways to make it easier for more people to enjoy Netflix on the go.”

But only a limited roster of content is available for download

The move by Netflix shows how much the company is into making its products and services worth to its loyalists. It is perhaps trying to avert competition that has become rampant within the streaming industry.

However even with what sounds like a good deal, a report by Windows Central states the feature is limited to a mix of Netflix Originals. Hence it is not everything that will be made possible to download. Any other content must be licensed by its providers.

Downloading content is not difficult but it must be in the updated app

Netflix has confirmed the global availability of the feature so long as the users have updated applications. For successful download, the person has to tap the arrow button, which is similar to that of YouTube to have the videos saved on their devices.  There is also the option of using “My Downloads” to keep safe the downloaded videos.

Netflix’s decision to roll out the new feature is a surprise because the company had stated its disinterest in making it possible to download content. Nonetheless, it may have changed its position as it eyes global expansion given that it is already available in over 190 countries.

As wolf grows Netflix is getting bigger and better. In the meantime, Netflix’s stock closed at $146.92 a fall of $0.89 or 0.60%.
