MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ:MTSC) Settles For Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) For Its Next Plan

The stock of Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) closed at $6.44 losing 0.16% in yesterday’s trading session. The telecommunications operator through a statement has revealed its plan to offer the newest software features to its wide array of customers.

Development of these features is currently underway and will be going on over the next three years. Ericsson Radio Systems, 5G-ready radio hardware and core network with the latest Ericsson Mobile Soft switch Solution is part of what the agreement entails.

MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ:MTSC) has said that it is currently preparing the network for 5G with Ericsson software for Massive IoT solutions, including Cat-M1 and NB-IoT technologies. The aim is enable the diverse range of IoT use-cases including sensor and metering applications.

MTS’s focus on the preparation of the network with 5G and IoT-ready hardware is meant to hasten the commercialization of these technologies and the agreement arrived at is in full support of it.

MTS Chief Technology Officer, Andrey Ushatsky, opined, “In April 2017, in Moscow our companies demonstrated 5G technology with peak data rates up to 25 Gbit/sec. Now we have reached an agreement with Ericsson, which will supply MTS new equipment enabling our network to deploy first solutions based on 5G technologies starting 2020.”

He went further to state that the upgrade was indeed a good thing since it would enable MTS network deliver increased capacity, higher data rates and low latency. It goes without saying that indeed these characteristics are crucial for digital and IoT services that are being unveiled starting today.

According to the latest edition of Ericsson Mobility Report, quite a significant number of operators are expected to start deploying 5G commercially. It is estimated that they might engage in that from 2020.Analysts have stated that by 2022 the number of 5G subscriptions might be hitting the 500 million mark.

The Head of Ericsson in Europe and Latin America, Arun Bansal outlined that the early deployment of 5G and IoT technologies positioned Russia as one of the earliest adopters of the most advanced ICT solutions.
