Explanatory Note

On June 8, 2017, MSA Safety Incorporated (the “Company”) filed a Current Report on Form 8‑K reporting that the Company’s Board of Directors (the “Board”) had elected Thomas W. Giacomini to the Board on June 4, 2017. Item 5.02(d) of Form 8-K, this Form 8-K/A is being filed for the purpose of reporting Mr. Giacomini’s committee appointments approved by the Board following his election to the Board.

(d) On August 22, 2017, the Board appointed Mr. Giacomini to its Audit Committee.
