Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) May 2 Event Will Focus On Cloud Version Of Windows 10

The much awaited and rumored Spring launch event by Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will be taking place on May 2 in New York City. The company officials have confirmed having sent out invitations to various guests who will grace the event, which has an education-oriented theme. However, the invitation does not have any other specifications regarding the event other than just the location and the date.

The event will feature a host of Microsoft’s products

There are mixed expectations in regards to what Microsoft’s Spring event code name “Bespin” will be offering. However, reliable sources have revealed that Microsoft’s Windows Cloud version of Windows 10 would be the main focus. While the name ‘Windows Cloud’ may trigger curiosity as to whether or not Microsoft is into the cloud business, the company says that the name has nothing to do with the cloud.

Microsoft’s target for its Windows Cloud is the educational market. However, the current effects of the company’s Chromebooks and Chrome OS on Windows’ market share cannot be ignored. Apparently, the tech giant has been trying to introduce tools and services into the Windows PCs, which are meant to make them more user-friendly all in an effort to blunt the said effects.

Microsoft is likely to unveil its Surface tablet running Windows Cloud

Among the many expected things that the company will not be rolling out is the Surface Pro 5. Rumor has it that this is likely to happen in 2018. However, the company may take advantage of the Spring event to make public its lower-priced Surface tablet. Details of whether or not the device will be branded are still very scarce.

Apart from the press, analysts and other invited guests, Joe Belfiore, Microsoft’s corporate vice president who has been on a long vacation is expected to lead the event. In any case, part of his roles in his new job entails dealing with education advocacy. It is not clear which other Microsoft execs will be at the event.

In the meantime, Microsoft’s stock was trading at $65.23 a decline of $0.25 or 0.38%.
