The stock of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) closed at $78.76 gaining 0.17% in yesterday’s trading session. In April 2017, Microsoft’s Office 365 commercial monthly active users number stood at 100 million. The number has at the moment gone up to stand at 120 million as was revealed by officials after the company announced its earnings report on October 26.
In the previous quarter, Microsoft officials outlined that the company had started raking in high levels of revenue from Office 365 Commercial subscriptions. The number was even higher than what Office sold via the non-subscription licensing.
In a recent report, a number of the Microsoft officials stated the company was looking forward to have two-thirds of its customers benefit from its cloud services in fiscal 2019.
Microsoft’s “commercial cloud,” has gained quite much from the contribution made by Office 365.Last year, Microsoft channeled a large chunk of its resources into the acquisition of LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD). However, this acquisition is not included in Microsoft’s “commercial cloud” bucket. A number of the company’s officials have come forward saying that LinkedIn was experiencing immense growth and was in a major way boosting Microsoft’s overall earnings.
For its first fiscal quarter in 2018, LinkedIn performed quite well considering that it lost less money than it did in the recent quarters. It lost only about $294 million.
Microsoft execs spoke in relation to the revenues of $1.1 billion for the quarter outlining that as a company they were “ahead of plan” with LinkedIn. They also expressed great satisfaction in the overall engagement associated with the platform as well as with the record levels of growth.
A number of officials working with Microsoft gave a statement indicating that this was going to be the last time the provider was going to be dragged down by its gradual shut down of the Windows Phone business.
Microsoft is not in the habit of always disclosing its Surface net income, and that makes it rather difficult to establish whether or not the business is profitable.
One of the company’s officials stated, “Surface revenues were up $113 million compared to the year-ago quarter, putting the business over $1 billion.”
