On May 30, 2019, Nora N. Crouch, the Chief Accounting Officer and Controller of Markel Corporation (the “Company”), informed the Company of her plan to retire effective May 31, 2020 and to begin to transition from her roles as Chief Accounting Officer and Controller of the Company once her successor has been selected. Ms. Crouch, 59, has been the Company’s Chief Accounting Officer since 2010, and served as Controller from 2003 to 2015 and since January 2019. She joined the Company in 2000 and served in several corporate accounting management positions before being named Controller in 2003. The Company intends to commence a search for a candidate to succeed Ms. Crouch as Chief Accounting Officer and Controller.
