International Paper Company (the “Company”) issued an announcement (the “Announcement”) confirming that it has submitted a proposal to acquire the entire issued and to be issued share capital of Smurfit Kappa. A copy of the Announcement is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated by reference into this Item 7.01.
