A new smartwatch called CoWatch has become the first smartwatch to feature Alexa, the Artificial Intelligence from Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN).
The Alexa AI powers Amazon Echo devices, but it is not an official Amazon smartwatch. The device was launched on Indiegogo at the start of the week. The watch was created by a startup firm known as iMCO Technology. Though the watch does not have to operate on Android Wear, it does have some features from Google because the company that made the watch was founded by some of Google’s former employees.
The watch can synchronize with smartphones running on Android 5.0 or higher, or iPhones with iOS 9. It is available in two colors, silver and black and it comes with a variety of bands. The watch’s measurements are 1.72 inches and 0.48 inch. It also features a 400 x 400 pixel Super AMOLED display at 1.39 inches.
The watch is also fitted with a dual-core MIPS processor. Other features include a 1GB ram and 8GB storage. It also includes sensors such as an accelerometer, magnetometer, gyro, vibrating motor and a heart rate sensor. It also comes with connectivity features such as Bluetooth and WIFI options. The watch comes with a charging cradle, and it takes just one hour to charge up to 70%. The wearable device has a 300mAh battery that promises up to 32 hours of usage.
The shell of the smartwatch is made of stainless steel and a ceramic Zirconia compound. It also has an IP67 certification for dust and water resistance. There a number of native apps available on the cronologics platform including apps geared towards communication, entertainment and fitness tracking. The platform plans to make the platform available for third party developers.
The pricing for the device will range between $159 and $179 and that will be determined by early orders. The first 800 units are expected to be delivered in June. The orders to come after that will be delivered within 90 days and their price tag will be higher at $369.
