Google is reportedly preparing its next generation Pixel 2 devices for the release this year.

According to rumors, the Pixel 2 will come with Qualcomm’s fastest and energy-efficient processor, an upgraded camera and a waterproof design.

Here is everything we so far know about the next generation Pixel 2.

Pixel 2 Rumors, Specs, News, Features

Rumors suggest that the next update of the Pixel smartphone will feature a curved OLED display. A report by Yonhap News Agency claimed that Google will use flexible OLED displays supplied LG Display in the next-generation Pixel devices.

According to rumors, Google is betting on the mobile phone’s camera technology, one of the most important features of the smartphone. 9to5 Google reported that the technology giant is looking to improve low light photography. The news service was told by sources that the Pixel 2’s camera won’t “have large MP size” but rather will “compensate in extra features.”

The Pixel 2 is expected to use Snapdragon 835 chipset, the first ever 10nm chipset designed to power large-scale entertainment experiences. However, some reports suggest that Google could come up with its own custom processor the Pixel 2.

According to rumors, the smaller Pixel 2 model will get a Snapdragon 835 with 4GB of RAM and a 64GB storage option. Similarly, the bigger model could get a Snapdragon 835 with 6GB of RAM and a 128GB storage option.

The 2017 Pixel is rumored to come with IP 67 and IP 68 waterproof certifications. That means the device could submerge in water depths of under 1 meter to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

The Pixel 2 will be powered by Android O, the latest version of Google’s Android mobile operating system.

In addition, reports suggest that Google is planning to ditch a 3.5mm headphone jack in the next update of the Pixel in a favor of stereo speakers. The internet giant could replace the headphone jack with a single USB-C port, according to a report by 9to5Google.

Google might launch four Pixel models this year. The tech giant is said to be testing three phones – the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL and a larger device code named Taimen (we think it is a Pixel tablet). Meanwhile, rumors suggest that Google is building a lower-price smartphone, the Pixel 2B, aimed at emerging markets including India.

Google Pixel 2 Release and Price

The Pixel 2 is expected to be unveiled in the third quarter of 2017. We believe that the company will release the new phones in October.

As far as the price is concerned, the Pixel 2 is expected to get a price boost of $50. Rumors suggest that the 32GB Pixel 2 will start at $700, 128GB at $800, 32GB Pixel XL at $820 and 128GB at $920.

Google has yet to confirm these rumors. The company, which operates the world’s most popular search engine, remains quiet about the next update of the Pixel.
