Keurig Green Mountain Inc (NASDAQ:GMCR) and General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) have been working together to develop a machine called the Beverage Center which they recently revealed.
The device is an automated beverage machine that is built to address the problem of diminishing space, especially in the kitchen. This is because there are various automated machines on the market that allow households to make their personal beverages in the comfort of their own homes. However, one cannot simply buy all the automated machines out there for the sake of convenience because there would not be enough space for them. GE and Keurig are aware of this and that is why they decided to develop a product that would solve this problem.
The Beverage Center is therefore designed to perform every function that is expected from every beverage appliance. It can, therefore, brew any beverage including a cola, coffee or a smoothie. It can also be built into a wall for convenience and is one and a half foot tall and two feet wide. Chris Bissig, the appliance concept, and brand development manager at GE stated the obvious in that his firm is aware that cooking is a vital part of making food and that GE has different appliances for this. However, beverages are also an important part of every meal, thus the idea for the appliance. Bissig also stated that the firm wanted to stretch the scope of beverage-making through a single appliance.
The two companies have so far managed to create a working prototype meaning it is not yet available for the market. The companies are yet to reveal when the device will be available in the market or let alone any pricing details.
