French businessman sues Uber because his wife filed for divorce

A businessman in France has filed a lawsuit against Uber after his wife discovered his husband’s affair with a mistress.

The man, whose name was disclosed, used Uber to visit his mistress. His wife received notifications of his trips, and she later filed for divorce, according to a report from The Verge.

The BBC News reported that the businessman had logged into his Uber account on his wife’s phone once. Despite logging out, his wife received notifications related to his trips, which ultimately tipped her off to his affair.

The man’s lawyer said that the bug “has caused him problems in his private life.”

The man is seeking €45 million or $48 million from Uber, according to French newspaper Le Figaro.

The newspaper said that Uber France declined to comment on the case, stating that the firm “does not publicly comment on individual cases, and especially in cases that involve a divorcing couple.”

According to the newspaper, they were able to replicate the bug and found that Android versions appeared to be unaffected.

The case is set for a hearing this month.
