Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is expected to launch a new smartphone, dubbed the Surface Phone, sometime this year. We could see a cool handset that “may not look like phones that are there today,” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently said, without mentioning the Surface Phone.
Microsoft remains tight-lipped about the Surface Phone, but rumors suggest that the company is building three versions of the smartphone to target business and corporate users. We expect that the Microsoft’s upcoming phone would be a strong competitor to the iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S8, and Google Pixel.
Microsoft Surface Phone Price and Release Date
According to the rumors mill, the Surface Phone will be released in the fourth quarter of 2017. But, we believe that the handset will arrive in the first quarter of 2018.
The Surface Phone is said to come in three different models including a consumer model and a business phone.
The lower-end model is expected to carry a price tag of $700, while the higher-end model could be offered at $1,100.

The Surface Phone is expected to feature a 5.5 AMOLED display with a 1440×2560 pixel Quad-HD resolution. The standard model is said to come with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage.
Rumors suggest that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset inside the Phone. With an advanced 10-nanometer design, the next-gen chip can support “phenomenal mobile performance,” according to Qualcomm.
The Surface Phone is said to feature a 21 megapixel (MP) rear camera with a Carl Zeiss lens. The front-facing camera is expected to be 8MP.
The Surface Phone is expected to come with a stylish pen and keyboard, making professional users more productive. Also, rumors suggest a unique fingerprint built into the phones screen as well as a 3.5mm audio jack and a Type-C USB port at the bottom.
