E-commerce giant Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) Launches Its Social Influencer Program

The use of social media like YouTube and Instagram for the promotion of businesses, products, and services is becoming more rampant by the day. Amazon.com, Inc.(NASDAQ:AMZN) has chosen to get in the game as well and has launched its social media program.  The e-commerce has an existing affiliate program and those using it earn their fees only after the recommendation of a product that lead to sales.

However, the new program will involve the use of popular social media platforms the likes Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB). Amazon will put into consideration various factors in choosing the influencers to put on board.  The primary consideration is the number of followers each one has across social media as well as the level of fan engagement on posts.

The new program is a more exclusive step up from the Amazon Affiliate linking

Inasmuch as the social influencer program may sound similar to Amazon’s Affiliate program, it is a little more exclusive in terms of what it will be offering. For example, the Influencers will be given a unique vanity URL, which makes it easy for them to be found by customers. In return, the customers will have an enhanced browsing experience. Nonetheless, remuneration for the Influencers remains unclear.

Liane Mullin, President, and COO of WhatsUpMoms, which is one those that will be taking part in the program says, “As the #1 Parenting Network on YouTube, we are constantly asked by our community for product recommendations….. videos. Now that we have our own Amazon store makes it much easier to have a curated collection all in one spot,”

Many consumer brands have been engaging pay influencers to tout their products online

Competition is stiff for every brand. Hence they must up their game in having their products gain an online presence. It is for this reason that many have turned to paid influencers. TV star Kim Kardashian and self-help guru Tony Robbins are some of the top social influencers across the broad media spectrum. Nonetheless, they are many upcoming ones, which are expected to fuel competition.

In the meantime, Amazon’s stock was trading at $891.51 witnessing an increase of $4.97 or 0.56%
