Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) Enters Agreement To Provide Secure Connectivity During 2018 Commonwealth Games

With the Commonwealth Games set to kick off in 2018, Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) has announced its role it this event and has also expressed the fact that it has signed an agreement with the relevant stakeholders to provide connectivity solutions for the on-coming Commonwealth Games.

With such an agreement, Cisco’s main task will be providing the firewalls, routers, switches and wireless access points crucial for connecting various hotspots and thousands of devices during the 2018 events. Cisco has also expressed that it will pull together its resources which will allow them to implement a 1900 km long of “highly secure and intelligent network” which intelligent network has been explained as a “more secure connectivity”

Services to be offered by Cisco for GOLDOC

According to Cisco, “The network is expected to connect 25,000 devices, providing operational Wi-Fi for 6,600 athletes and officials and 3,500 media, enabling the sharing of video, data and information to run dedicated application.”

In a rejoinder, the GOLDOC chair has expressed his confidence that Cisco will be better placed because it has more than half a year to upscale GOLDOC from a startup operation to a global enterprise. Many predict that with Cisco, the Commonwealth Games will be one of the most unique experiences for the participants as well as the spectators.

Before signing the agreement to offer technical services during the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Cisco had earlier announced that it has acquired forensic security cloud service provider observable networks. This was basically an attempt to improve its threat detection techniques and solutions across its networks.

This acquisition is however expected to be completed at the first quarter of fiscal year 2018. “Observable Networks technology is based on dynamic behavior modelling of all devices on the network,” Cisco said through its blog post. Many observers, however, are waiting anxiously to see if everything will work as planned.

Challenges During 2018 Commonwealth Games

Cisco has also expressed that there are some challenges associated with providing secure connection. These challenges include decrypting encrypted threat malware without breaching privacy and confidentiality rules. But Cisco has expressed that with encrypted traffic analytic tools which works at 99.99% efficacy, all will be under control.

Cisco stocks closed yesterday trading at $31.50, after rising by $0.08 or 0.25%.
