Glu Mobile Inc. (NASDAQ:GLUU) has set up Nicki Minaj against Kim Kardashian on the videogame stage. The company has launched a new mobile game modeled around the lifestyle of the celebrity just the way it did with Kardashian in “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood” in 2014.

The Minaj-inspired game is called “Nicki Minaj: The Empire”, and it is available to play free of charge on mobile. Players of “Nicki Minaj: The Empire” can engage in a wide range of activities, including recording original music and socializing in chat rooms.

“Featuring multiple ways to engage with Nicki’s world apart from traditional narrative gameplay, this product illustrates the evolution of Glu’s celebrity gaming platform,” Nick Earl. The CEO of Glu, said of the new celebrity lifestyle game.

$100 million in revenue

In the Minaj-inspired game, Glu is hoping the game will match or exceed the success of “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood”, which has generated revenue of more than $100 million for the company since its launch in 2014. In an update earlier this year, Glu said the Kardashian -inspired game has been downloaded 42 million times.

Will Minaj beat Kardashian’s revenue record?

The Kardashian game set a bar high for celebrities who can have their lifestyles featured in Glu’s game products. The latest development means Minaj and Kardashian will be wrestling for bragging rights. Who will produce more revenue for Glu?

The success of the Kardashian game inspired Glu to create more celebrity games, but the company is more interested in the revenue and profits the games can produce. Videogame business becomes more competitive in recent times, with Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA), Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:EA) and Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:EA) all stepping up their campaigns for games revenues and profits.

Glu generated revenue of $51.4 million in 3Q16, down from $63.3 million in the like quarter a year earlier. The company is looking for 4Q revenue in the band of $38 – $40 million.

Glu stock declined 1.7% to close at $2.30 in the last session.
