Yahoo Deal

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) to buy Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) real estate and other selected assets for $4.8 billion.

Insiders and people close to the deal are leaking information that Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ) has sealed a deal to purchase many assets from Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) which will be announced as soon as tomorrow (Monday) morning.

The Yahoo – Verizon deal will include the Yahoo real estate assets but will not include the internet assets, the Alibaba investments or Yahoo Japan.

There has been much speculation recently that a deal is imminent but many were expecting the MAVENS assets to be included as well. MAVENS are Yahoos mobile, video and native advertising. These were Marissa Mayer’s prized possessions and were key to her failed turn around attempt.

This deal, if it goes through could mean the end of the Marissa Mayer era at Yahoo! Inc.
