Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) may not launch its new iPhone until much later in the year.

The delay however, has not stooped customers from voicing endless speculations about the new phone. It is expected that this year things will be a little bit different bearing in mind that it’s the iPhone’s tenth anniversary.

Rumors speculate that there may be three new models including iPhone 7S, iPhone 7S Plus and the iPhone X also commonly known as iPhone 8. The iPhone X is speculated to be an expensive and technical showcase phone which will be introduced as the celebration model.

A lot of information is circulating in the market about the new iPhone 7S and the iPhone 7S Plus which only adds to the anticipation of the new models. iPhone X however, leads the headlines with the expected incredible features.

Features of the iPhone X

It will come with a bezel-less screen and will have no home button. The edge to edge screen will incorporate OLED technology.

Cowen and Company, a market research firm indicates that the iPhone 8’s earpiece, Touch ID fingerprint sensor and FaceTime camera will be embedded into the screen. This will allow for a seamless edge-to-edge front panel.

It stated that Apple might use Synaptic’s optical based fingerprint reader in the new Touch ID, referencing it as the only workable solution at the moment that can detect fingerprints via a smart phone screen.

Challenges to suppliers

The prototypical design may pose some challenges for the supplier of the company. The under screen Touch ID sensor yields very low such that the company may opt for alternative designs if production challenges will prove unsolvable.

More speculation in the market indicates that iPhone will have no home button on the screen. According to an image on Twitter by Benjamin Geskin indicates the iPhone new look with a type of design which is based on sketches developed by a factory staff knowledgeable about the iPhone 8 design.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kou stated, “the iPhone X could see the elimination of the iconic home button and Touch ID sensor in favor of “virtual buttons” at the bottom of the screen”.

Apple’s stock closed in at $141.80 on Wednesday with a rise of $0.17 or 0.12%.
