Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) seems to have attracted a lot of customers from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) judging by the many Tesla cars in employee parking garages at Apple offices.
One of Apple’s employees took note of the growing liking for Tesla vehicles when he noticed that there were very many Tesla cars in parking lots. The anonymous Apple employee took photos and posted them to Reddit on Thursday. One of the images showcased seven Tesla models parked along each other to make quite an impressive view. It is hard to find that many Teslas parked in one place unless it is at the company’s dealerships.
The two firms have been known to poach employees from each other which in regular situations would spark a rivalry. However, not so much here because in this case most of Apple’s offices in Silicon Valley are fitted with electric chargers for the cars. The iPhone maker is interested in going green and therefore it supports green technology such as electric cars. It, therefore, makes sense that the firm’s employees would take advantage of this by owning some of the most iconic electric vehicles in the market.
It is interesting considering that Tesla also looks to Apple for inspiration. This is a simple case of roles being reversed and now Apple is seeking inspiration from Tesla. It is also a perfect example of one successful firm endorsing a product from another successful tech company. It is no coincidence that Tesla vehicles are becoming a darling to Apple employees, who can also afford the price tag. They align perfectly with the company’s latest plans to pursue the commercial sale of its excess electricity.
Apple generates its own electricity from solar and wind as part of its efforts to foster more energy efficiency. Workers are therefore best suited to tap into the firm’s electricity production by driving electric powered vehicles. There have also been rumors that Apple has been working on its own vehicle under Project Titan. However, there have been few details about that project.
