Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s latest MacBook Pro features a lot of changes from the previous generation MacBook Pro and reports indicate that the new one will not support early Thunderbolt 3 devices.

The recently revealed MacBook Pro will phase out the Thunderbolt 3 ports in favor of USB Type-C ports. Apple most likely decided to make the change in order to make the 2016 MacBook more future-proof since the USB Type-C are the next step as far as USB connectivity is concerned. The new USB technology is also faster which makes sense for the company to go with it.

While the move might be a good deal for the future, it unfortunately means that the 2016 MacBook Pro will not be compatible with the devices featuring the early Thunderbolt connectors. This was identified after the new MacBook Pro failed to connect with controller chips from Texas Instruments Incorporated (NASDAQ:TXN). It was discovered that the TBT3-HDMI2X and TBT3-DP2X graphics adapters are not compatible with the new MacBook.

“While we have no comment on Plugable’s specific complaint, products using the newest Thunderbolt chipsets, with up-to-date drivers, will have no difficulty connecting to any 2016 MacBook Pro,” Apple said in a statement.

The new complaints about incompatibility add to the piling complaints about the lack of expansion ports in the new MacBook Pro. Some users were not pleased with the fact that the company decided to do away with the SD card slot. The latter was considered a vital necessity, especially for professional photographers.

Apple is reportedly delaying its upcoming docking product so that it can resolve the incompatibility issues. Price details for the docking station are yet to be revealed though Apple is expected to release more details soon. The device is thus expected to solve most of the issues that are associated with incompatibility or lack of enough ports.
