Amkor Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMKR), Cadence Design Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CDNS) Collaboration Deal Deepens

Amkor Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMKR) declared the broadening of its alliance with Cadence Design Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CDNS) to make seamless semiconductor package verification. This would be made possible with the combined building of a package assembly design kit (PADK) for Amkor’s SWIFT and SLIM sophisticated fan-out package know-how.

As a front runner in electronic design automation, Cadence will give Amkor PADK development support, leveraging the Cadence Physical Verification System (PVS) software system. This consolidated solution lets Amkor’s clients cut short the SLIM and SWIFT design as well as verification cycles.

Amkor’s corporate vice president of research and development Ron Huemoeller said they were at a crucial phase in the semiconductor sector with more reliability on packaging solutions to deliver next-generation products. The creation of these PADKs are the latest result of the company’s long alliance with Cadence. With its experience and package design processes, Amkor is well placed to head the sector with its fan-out packaging technologies.

By building together the Cadence PVS based PADKs for SWIFT as well as SLIM technologies, Cadence and Amkor are bridging the gap between semiconductor design and package design. They are also improving design processes for sophisticated IC packaging fan-out technologies.

Amkor’s PADKs will help designers fulfill the design needs required to make sure total package-level sign-off verification for SWIFT and SLIM technologies and will help collaborate smoothly with their clients.

Senior product engineering group director, PCB Group at Cadence Design Systems, Steve Durrill said to keep pace with the sector’s quick-performing, lesser-power and tinier form-factor device needs, fan-out processing is a necessary part of sophisticated IC packaging. He added their alliance with Amkor fills a space concerning total sign-off verification for this IC packaging know-how, assisting to speed up the usage of SWIFT and SLIM technologies in the growing market space.

Cadence Design Systems has just unveiled its highest performance neural processing tool, the Tensilkica Vision P6 digital signal processor (DSP). Cadence is focusing on deep learning and advanced vision. Presently deep learning as well as vision processing are the quickest growing domains for neural network processing.
