Amazon.com, Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) Approaches Leclerc Over Logistics Partnership

The stock of Amazon.com, Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) closed at $965.45 gaining 0.87% in yesterday’s trading session. This company recently approached Leclerc and it sought to strike a logistics partnership with it. There has also been a lot of speculation lately regarding the intentions of Amazon in the supermarket sector.

The head of Leclerc, Michel-Edouard Leclerc confirmed, “”Yes, we have been approached by Amazon. It could – why not? – be our logistics partner.”

The comments by Leclerc are coming shortly after Le Monde, the French newspaper, held talks with a number of French supermarket operators. Some of those contacted included Casino (CASP.PA). The target was to set up a series of distribution deals as well as make an acquisition in the country.

There has also been a lot of speculation among traders that Amazon might soon express its interest in bidding for Carrefour (CARR.PA), the French supermarket operator. Both Carrefour and Casino declined to make any comments in relation to the rumors saying that they do not comment on such.

Amazon has always been at the frontline when it comes to drawing up strategies to help it cruise to the highest levels of business success. Competition in the world markets continues to grow wild with time and maintaining company’s position has become quite demanding. Some time back, the company made the move to buy the Whole Foods Market. That cost it about $13.7 billion.

It shouldn’t hit anyone by surprise that an enormous company like Amazon saw it fit to settle for Leclerc. Anyone that has been closely following on Leclerc can attest to the fact that there have been a lot of positive changes going on. It goes without saying that indeed Amazon would wish to associate itself with successful partners.

The new alliance is expected to help achieve immense growth for the two. Amazon’s spokesperson said that as a company they held the matter of business expansion with much seriousness. It was part of the reasons why the company has gotten to where it stands currently.

Leclerc is happy that its efforts have started paying off and that is considering the fact that a company like Amazon could seek to partner with it.
