Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) subsidiary Google is following in the steps of famous scientist and philosopher Galileo Galilei through the launch of a new service called Google Sky.
The company has introduced a new service that provides an interesting and exciting way for people to look at the universe. Google Sky is a website that allows users to explore the heavenly bodies through the eyes of a telescope. The company teamed up with NASA for the project so that they could make it possible for people to look into the cosmos and explore all the beauty that it has to offer.
The service can be best described as a Google Maps for space. It allows the user to see the incredible images captured from space. Just like Google Maps, the service tries to compile images to create a map of the cosmos. It even has a feature for zooming in for a closer look or zooming out. For example, one could zoom for a closer look at a galaxy. It also contains filters which include infrared, historical and microwave that allow the user to look at one image from different perspectives.
Google Sky also has various categories that allow the user to explore different galaxies. One such galaxy that has been documented by the website is the Sombrero Galaxy. The images were taken by numerous telescopes including Spitzer, Chandra and the famous Hubble Telescope. The website is definitely highlights Google’s desire to not only make it possible for people to view the earth but also to map Space. This is a mission that was started by Galileo who had a keen eye for the beauty beyond the earth’s atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Google Sky has not been without controversy. The service together with NASA have been accused of covering up the discovery of Planet X, otherwise known as Nibiru. The planet has been rumored to be making its way into our solar system. Google Sky and NASA have been accused of blocking out a specific part of the sky where the planet is believed to be. However, it is not clear if these rumors are true.
