A new feature has been added to Google Maps making it possible for content to be shared. Henceforth, Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google Maps users will now be able to save lists of routes and places which they can then post online or share with friends and followers. And as is the case with other apps, it will be possible for users to see the favorite trips of other people by following those people’s lists.

“Now that we’ve got the world mapped, it’s your turn to map your world with Lists — from local hot spots to bucket list destinations world’s away,” said Google in a statement.

Your Places

To create a list, users are required to search for a place they want to add on a list and navigate to ‘Your Places’ once they open the Google Maps app. Users should then proceed to the ‘Saved’ tab and they will be able to get a glimpse of the entire customizable list where they will have the option of deciding whether or not to share with their family, friends or even strangers. The lists, which can even be accessed offline, are viewable on both the desktop and the mobile versions of Google Maps.

The feature had originally been introduced as an update last summer for beta users. It will now make it easier for users to keep track of places they want to visit or places they have been to. Additionally, it will also be easier for family and friends to check out users when they visit a place.

Some of the fun things that users can be able to do with the lists include sharing spots with friends who are from out of town and who have come to visit. The lists can also be used to ensure that road trips are running smoothly, especially if a big group is involved. Using lists this way could assist in keeping people in the loop as well as helping in being located should an emergency arise.

On Monday shares of Alphabet Inc rose by 0.49 percent to close the day at $838.96.
