Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) Enhances The Performance Of Its Super Duty Pickup

Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) is introducing its latest version of the Super Duty Pickups and it claims that the lineup this year will be more powerful.

Ford claims that the latest Super Duty Pickups will have a higher horsepower rating and they will also have more torque. The automaker argues that this will allow the pickup to compete against rival offerings from other manufacturers that make vehicles in the same category. Sources revealed that the pickup lineup which includes the F-250, F-350 and F-450 will be available for sale in the fall. The company also reported that the redesigned vehicles have shed as much as 350 pounds compared to their predecessors. This was made possible thanks to the decision to use aluminum body panels rather than steel.

The automaker claims that the frame it used in the new models is made up of 95% high-strength steel. Ford also claims that the new frame is 24 times stiffer than the previous versions and this will allow it to support heavier trailers and loads.

According to the automotive manufacturer, the F-450 SuperCrew 4×4 is capable of towing as much as 21,000 pounds which is 1,000 pounds more than its closest competitor. Ford also revealed that the F-250 and the F-350 can tow as much as 18,000 pounds, thus leading in their class. The company also announced that the new Super Duty lineup will be the first to feature adaptive cruise control. They will also offer brake support for trailers within their tow rating as well as a collision warning system.

The power output for the Super Duty will include Ford’s second generation turbocharged Powerstroke V-8 engine which produces 440 horsepower. Its torque output is 925 pound-feet. It will also feature a smaller 6.2 liter V-8 whose output is 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
