Early versions of the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPod from the 2000s are now considered a collector’s items and could be valued at tens of thousands of dollars.

The early versions of the iPod are now fetching a handsome amount of money on eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) because collectors are willing to pay for the rare vintage item. Some models are even going for as much as $20,000.

The Guardian managed to get some astonishing sales details for the vintage iPods. A third generation iPod Shuffle with the factory seal managed to fetch $999.95 which is more than an iPhone 5.

Demand for vintage products from Apple on the Rise

A white fifth generation iPod classic fetched around $1,394.99 while a first generation iPod mini went for as much as $2,499.99. However, this is just the low end of the price spectrum compared to what a well maintained vintage iPod can cost. The special edition of the fourth generation red and black version can fetch as much as $7,000 which might seem like the best deal. However, a boxed second generation iPod Classic valued at $19,999.99 took the crown.

The demand for vintage items is not only for the iPod but also for other vintage items from Apple. One eBay trader claims that he noticed that the demand for Apple products has been on the rise. He also noted that the record highest price was $90,000 for a special edition iPod classic sold two years ago.

Apple’s promotional material and memorabilia have also been attracting heavy pricing. The first iPod advertisement was traded at $8,999.99 while a classic store display of the company went on sale for $5,599. The latter was put up for sale by Hermie Brieto, who decided to sell Apple memorabilia as a home job after the birth of his daughter. One of the recent products that Brieto sold was a cardboard advertisement that he sold for $2,000. Though he mostly sells sports memorabilia, he noted that he has seen a rise in the demand for vintage Apple products.
