A look at Alphabet’s services that dominate the competition.

Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) may be facing competitive pressure in Internet Search, virtual assistants and digital maps, but it remains the  number one provider by far. Here is a highlight of a few areas where Alphabet excels while the competition struggles:

Google Map

Apple is trying to build a powerful rival to Alphabet’s Google Maps, but Apple Maps has a long way to go.

Virtual assistant market

There is no shortage of digital assistant tools one can choose from, but you can be sure you don’t get the same thing from all of them. Google has largely succeeded in projecting its Google Now digital assistant as the difference. Google Now not only allows you to perform many functions on your handset hands-free, but it also boasts a large pool of information that you can query.

Google Now’s rivals include Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Siri and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Cortana.

Nexus smartphone

Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s Nexus line of smartphones is the gold-standard of Android smartphones. Nexus smartphones not only run the purest Android version, but they are also sold cheaper than similar premium smartphones.

Android OS

Alphabet’s Android remains the most popular mobile operating system with more than 84% share of the market. That compares with 13.5% of Apple’s iOS, which powers iPhones and iPads.

Free cloud storage

Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s Google offers the largest free cloud storage space for its users. You are entitled to 15GB Google Drive storage the moment to you sign up for a Gmail account or other Google services. In contrast, Microsoft is in the process of reclaiming some OneDrive storage space that it once told users they didn’t have to pay for.

YouTube

Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s YouTube remains the most popular and content-rich online video sharing platform. Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is trying to build a rival to YouTube, but it has a long way to got to catch up with the 800-pound gorilla.

Project Fi

Alphabet’s Project Fi is a wireless service that is more flexible and cheaper than what traditional phone carriers offer. For $20 a month, you have unlimited calls and text on Project Fi network. For additional $10 a month, you have 1GB of Internet data and you don’t lose anything in case you have data balance at the end of the 30-day period.

Internet Search

Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) operates the most vibrant Internet Service in the world. There are alternatives, but none can sufficiently substitute Google in a free market.
