Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) Prime Members Get New Streaming Channels

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has revamped its channel’s lineup for its Prime subscribers with the addition of HBO and Cinemax streaming subscription plans. As part of the launch promotion, the two plans will have a 30-day free availability after which their respective monthly fees of $15 and $10 will take effect. It is not in vain that Amazon has chosen to take this route given the tight competition. It is perhaps expected to retain and attract more Prime members.

Executive Vice President, Worldwide Digital Distribution and Home Entertainment of HBO Sofia Chang, writes, “We have a very successful partnership with this great company that continues to evolve. We share the goal of providing Amazon customers more ways to access all of the high-quality HBO and Cinemax programming they’ve been asking for.”

What should users of HBO and Cinemax’s Amazon Channels expect?

Michael Paull, Vice President of Amazon Digital Video asserts that there is a lot behind the scenes. The company has for years verified an unrivaled competence for bringing customers what they want. It will not just rest at HBO and Cinemax. Beyond these two, the service is also set to offer a growing collection of over 80 premium and specialty channels to choose from. Users get full streaming access to each network’s lineup of services the likes of blockbuster movies, documentaries and specials, original films, sports and miniseries among others.

It was just a year ago when Amazon Video opened to third-party video-streaming services. This allowed subscription to the likes of Starz and Showtime. Thus the presence of two plans is just another major scoop that is purposed to enhance Prime membership.

How sensible is the partnership with Amazon?

It is no longer a secret anymore that many companies are hungry for collaboration in an effort to tap into one another’s expertise. Amazon has been evolving over time, and according to Chang, the current partnership is worth it. In any case, HBO and Amazon share a common ambition of providing customers with more ways to use all of its programming.

HBO highlights include all episodes of the newest and most favorite shows the likes of The Revenant,’ ‘Game of Thrones,’  ‘The Martian,’  ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ and more.  Amazon’s stock closed at $743.65 a decline of $6.92 or 0.92%
