Marathon Petroleum (NYSE: MPC) reported third-quarter income today of $737 million, or $1.62 per share, representing a year-over-year decline of 18%. Revenues rose 19% to $23.13 billion from the third quarter of 2017. Shares fell over 3% in premarket trade.

Shares of AMC Networks (NASDAQ: AMCX) rose 2% in premarket trade after the company reported better-than-expected results for the third quarter of 2018. Profit was $111.2 million, or $1.93 per share, versus $87 million, or $1.35 per share in the same prior-year quarter. Revenue totaled $697 million, up 7.5% from $648 million a year ago, while the FactSet consensus was $695 million.

Shares of Encana Corp. (NYSE: ECA) fell 14.75% before the open after the company said it agreed to acquire oil-and-gas firm Newfield Exploration Co. (NYSE: NFX) in an all-stock deal valued at approximately $5.5 billion. Subject to receipt of regulatory and shareholder approvals by both companies, the transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2019.

Noble Energy (NYSE: NBL) reported third-quarter 2018 net income of $227 million, or $0.47 per share, versus a loss of $136 million, or a per share loss of $0.28, in the same quarter last year. Revenues were $1.27 billion, up $960 million a year ago. NBL rose 1.01% in premarket trade.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA) reported a third-quarter loss of $273 million, or a $0.27 loss per share, compared to income of $530 million, or $0.52 per share, for the same quarter of 2017. Revenues for the quarter were $4.53 billion, down 19% compared to the third quarter of last year, mainly due to generic competition to Copaxone, its multiple sclerosis drug, price erosion in its U.S. generics business and loss of revenues following the divestment of certain products and discontinuation of certain activities.
