Vmware, Inc. (NYSE:VMW) Reveals Mobile Mail App Called Boxer For Airwatch

VMware, Inc. (NYSE:VMW) has introduced its new email application known as Boxer which it has launched for Airwatch and Workspace One clients.

The company claims that the app has security features that match enterprise level, and they have all been integrated into the app to provide an experience that befits customer expectations. A large percentage of the technology incorporated into the app was created by Boxer, an Austin-based firm that was acquired by VMware in October 2015. The company acquired Boxer with the aim of integrating it with Airwatch to strengthen its enterprise mobility management services suite. The aim was to work on safe access to email, apps, and content.

VMware is especially interested in Boxer because of its personal information management product for Android and iOS devices. The product addresses security and management through a container approach. The company took all the interface and security features offered by Boxer and combined them into an enterprise app. Andrew Eye, founder of Boxer and current Vice President at VMware, stated that the Boxer app is the most customizable email app currently available in the market.

The app allows users to edit messages in bulk and swipe email messages among other custom features. During a press interview, Mr. Eye stated that the clients and commercial users of the app will receive updates rapidly, and that there will also be a unique build for those that prefer less frequent updates. Also for enterprise and IT businesses, the app allows the administrator to custom configure the security policies through the container strategy.

The app is also available through shared or dedicated cloud deployment, and it can also be synchronized with Office365. IOS users can access the app on Workspace One, and it is also available for Airwatch. The Boxer app joins a series of email apps from other firms including Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) The VP stated that the company will continue to work on boxer security platforms in the future.
