On January 3, 2017, Union Bankshares Corporation issued a press
release announcing John C. Asbury has become chief effective
officer of the holding company and G. William Beale has become
executive vice chairman, consistent with the previously announced
chief executive officer transition plan. Union also named L.
Duane Smith, Jr. as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing
