CO2 Solutions Inc, which happens to be one of the leaders in the area of enzyme-enabled carbon capture technology has today gone ahead to give a clear update regarding the progress at the Corporation’s first commercial project with Fibrek General Partnership, which is indeed a subsidiary of Resolute Forest Products Common Stock (NYSE:RFP) and Serres Toundra Inc.
Some close sources reveal that the project entailed the deployment of ancillary equipment at a pulp mill in the Saint-Félicien zone of Quebec (Canada), a carbon capture unit as well as the commercial reuse of the captured CO2 by the adjacent Serres Toundra greenhouse facility.
BBA and CO2 Solutions, both happen to be the engineering partner on this project and the news trickling in reveal that they have moved forward to complete the preliminary engineering phase.
Consequently, the Corporation has made a confirmation that indeed the CO2 capture unit has been designed in such a way that it will be able to produce about 30 tonnes per day (tpd) of CO2 and that has been termed a top end of the initially anticipated range.
In close consideration of the fact that indeed the Project’s original financial projections were fundamentally based on revenues fetched from the smaller, 15 tpd unit, the Corporation has moved ahead to make an annual projection of about $750,000 from the Project once it once it kick starts production.
The Executive Director, who is at the same time, heads the Project Management Practice at BBA, Lyne Ricard when addressing a number of top news reporters said, “The beauty of CO2 Solutions’ technology is that it not only helps mitigate carbon, and thereby promises to reduce the increasing liability associated with emitting carbon, but it also enables an economically viable reuse of CO2. We believe that this is a proposition that will resonate well with our industrial partners and look forward to increasing the visibility of this technology across various industries.”
One thing that is for sure is the fact that things have been running quite smoothly in the recent years but the progress witnessed in line with the project as well as the ongoing cooperation between partners is something that has been praised by top investors and the rest of the concerned parties.
