Item 8.01.Other Events.

On July 24, 2017, Reata Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (the “Company”) issued a press release reporting initial data from the ongoing open-label Phase 2 portion of CARDINAL, a Phase 2/3 trial evaluating bardoxolone methyl in patients with chronic kidney disease caused by Alport syndrome (“CARDINAL”).Based upon these data, the Company also reported that it has initiated screening in the Phase 3 portion of the trial. A copy of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated herein by reference.

The Company plans to hold a conference call on July 24, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. EDT to discuss the initial data from the open-label Phase 2 portion of CARDINAL and the initiation of screening in the Phase 3 portion of the trial. Information about how to access the conference call is in the press release attached as Exhibit 99.1. The presentation slides that are to be used in connection with the conference call are attached as Exhibit 99.2 and incorporated herein by reference.
