Sources familiar with the company’s dealings claim that Edge extensions will be included in the next upcoming test version of Windows 10 “Redstone”. MSPowerUser.com has made it possible to view the extensions though Microsoft will most likely take that privilege away. The tech giant had been planning to introduce the Edge extensions for testing before the end of 2015 but it missed that window. Support was thus pushed to 2016.

Extensions are vital to many users because they help them decide whether to adopt the new Edge browser. Microsoft’s preview page revealed that the first 3 extensions will be Mouse gestures, the Reddit Enhancement Suite and Microsoft Translator. The page also has a description of how testers can add the extensions to the previous version of Edge. Microsoft plans to make the Edge extensions through Windows 10 as indicated by the preview page.

There is also a chance that the extensions will be supported on Windows 10 for Mobile. This is because the company has featured an extension called Page Analyzer in the Windows Store. The app doubles up as an extension for Microsoft Edge and its installation is as simple as installing a regular Windows App. The extension was however introduced for testing by developers, thus presenting an opportunity for them to try out its performance.

The Page Analyzer app also supports ARM processors. This is a sign that support for Windows 10 might be closer than anticipated. Nevertheless, it will depend on how well Microsoft will handle the whole process. This week marks the sixth month since Microsoft made Windows 10 available. So far the number of devices running on the operating system is more than 200 million and that is good news for Microsoft because the OS has received massive global adoption. Edge has also been a well-celebrated browser.
