The Florida Department of Health (DOH) has reportedly approved the Liberty Health Sciences Inc (OTCMKTS:LHSIF) request to sell whole flower smokeable products in the state.
The DOH approval means that Liberty Health Sciences is now one of the few companies that are allowed to sell smokeable medical marijuana products in the dispensaries located in Florida. The cannabis firm is currently waiting for the DOH to grant it the right to distribute pre-rolls to patients in the state. Governor Ron DeSantis recently signed bill SB 182 into law, therefore lifting a previously existing ban that prevented medical marijuana smoking.
“This is truly a historic moment not only for Liberty Health Sciences but for the State of Florida,” stated Liberty Health Sciences interim CEO, Victor E. Mancebo.
Mancebo also revealed that Governor DeSantis signed Bill SB 182 the sale week that Liberty received DOH’s approval for distributing flower products. He also noted that it is a significant milestone for the company to be able to offer more medical marijuana options to patients. Florida residents have been eagerly waiting for the government to pass the bill.
Liberty Health to take advantage of new growth opportunities thanks to the new law
The new law also supports Liberty Health Sciences’ long-term strategy especially with its expansion plans in Florida. Mancebo also revealed that the DOH has implemented necessary safety measures that will allow the proper distribution of medical cannabis products. A survey conducted by MJ Freeway and New Frontier Data indicates that flowers are the most popular way of consuming cannabis because they do not involve a lot of processing.
The study also revealed that there is a higher number of patients in states whose medical marijuana programs also include flower. Florida is therefore expected to see a rise in medical marijuana patients now that flower has been given the green light. Liberty currently operates 12 dispensaries distributed across Florida. Patients can also make their orders online and even enjoy same-day deliveries. A Statistica report claims that U.S medical marijuana sales will be between $4.9 billion and $6.1 billion by 2021 and Liberty hopes its strategy will allow it to take advantage of that growth.
