Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is rumored to release a completely redesigned iPhone model this year to mark the 10th-anniversary of the iPhone.
Possibly dubbed the iPhone 8 (or the iPhone 10), the premium handset would come with some revolutionary features including long-distance wireless charging, an edge-to-edge OLED display, and a front-facing 3D camera.
Here are the three top rumored features that you will love to see in this year’s iPhone.
1# Wireless Charging
The iPhone 8 is said to come with a long-distance wireless charging technology developed by Energous.
According to the reports, the phone would be able to recharge itself from a distance of up to 15 feet, thanks to Energous’ technology.
Recently, Apple joined the Wireless Power Consortium, the organization behind the Qi wireless charging platform.
Analysts believe that the wireless charging will be the major selling point for the iPhone 8.
2# Curved OLED Display
Rumors suggest that the 10th anniversary iPhone will have a curved 5.15-inch OLED display with glass back.
The iPhone 8’s curved edge OLED screen will be similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge, according to the rumors mill. To make way for the edge-to-edge display, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) would kill the home button on the iPhone 8.
Adding weight to the rumors, Apple has reportedly purchased 60 million OLED display panels from Samsung Display.
OLEDs are better than traditional LCDs. These offer better contrast ratio, colors, and improved viewing angles while consuming less power than LCDs. In addition, OLEDs do not require the backlighting just like LCDs.
3# Camera
Apple is expected to add an improved camera to the special iPhone model.
According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the rumored iPhone 8 would have a dual-lens camera that Apple introduced in the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus. The famous Apple analyst believes that the iPhone 8 would feature optical image stabilization for both the wide-angle and telephoto lenses.
A report from The Korea Economic Daily claimed that the 10th anniversary iPhone would feature a 3D camera.
iPhone 8 Price
The iPhone 8 would be a premium handset. It is expected to get a hefty price tag of $1,000.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is said to unveil the special 2017 iPhone in September alongside the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus.
