International Business Machines Corp (NYSE:IBM) is collaborating with Cloud Elements to provide a range of new connectors in the IBM App Connect.
Details of the merger
IBM connect is a premier cloud integration platform by IBM that allow users to quickly connect apps in automating their tasks as well as boosting the productivity. The alliance between IBM and Clouds Elements the API integration provider is expected to expand the extent of IBM’s App Connect catalog with potential wide range of new connectors to top cloud applications.
IBM clients will be in a position to leverage the applications in the sophisticated App Connect interface in automating integrations and receive notifications, sync data as well as track outcomes instead of manually performing the integration tasks which historically have been considered repetitive and high touch.
Tony Curcio the director of Application Integration at IBM stated, “We chose Cloud Elements because of their novel canonical data and object model which normalizes connectivity to cloud application.” He added that the approach assists in accelerating IBM’s time in marketing for the new connectors in the IBM App Connect.
Benefits to the parties
While working with Cloud Elements, the company is hoping to have a notable reduction in the development cost, time and the maintenance for the IBM platform.
Element Builder by Cloud Element is used to extend the abilities of the Elements or in building new Elements from scratch. The tool has been improved to allow tight integration with the IBM App Connect environment. This feature allows IBM to accelerate time in marketing for third party cloud services as well as taking care of maintenance, monitoring and the version control of the connectors.
Mark Geene the CEO and the co-founder of Cloud Elements stated that the alliance with IBM is helping Cloud Element in their vision of automating the distribution of their connectors across the major integration platforms. IBM on the other hand will gain from the rapidly developing catalog as well as the updates made to normalize the APIs from the various sources into an easy to use API Hubs.
The stock of IBM closed at $160 on Thursday after a rise $0.23 or 0.14%.
