The TM-Series Mobile Fronthaul Solution is a frontrunner in the growing fronthaul market. It has less latency, better synchronization, and little power consumption along with high density. The solution will enable HGC to give mobile operators superior capacity in mobile fronthaul services inside the Hong Kong area.
HGC is the owner of one of the largest fiber-optic networks in Hong Kong. The company’s four cross-border paths combine three of China’s top mobile operators. The infrastructure allows HGC give an extensive variety of fixed-line telecommunication services locally as well as abroad, addressing the requirements of global and local carriers, corporate enterprises, data centers as well as residential broadband services.
The fast implementation of 3G and 4G along with sustained growth of social media, video and cloud services accessed through tablets and smart phones has ramped up the requirement for extra bandwidth. Mobile service providers such as HGC’s sister organization 3 Hong Kong are overhauling their networks by taking fiber to the cell tower. They are also shifting to a cloud-RAN (Radio Access Network) architecture utilizing Infinera’s TM-Series Fronthaul Solution. This fresh fronthaul architecture aims to make HGC and its customers ready for seamless expansion into 5G.
Chief Technology Officer of HGC, Byron Chiang said the company examined the mobile fronthaul systems currently available in the market. They found the Infinera TM-Series to be the best for HGC’s requirements.
